implode – PHP String Functions

Syntax :

implode ( separator, array );

Description :

implode function will join array elements in a string.


Parameter :

  • separator – Optional. This is an optional parameter. By default it is an empty string (“”).
  • array –  Collection of elements to join a string
Note : implode() function accept its parameters in either order. For consistency with explode(), however, it may be less confusing to use the documented order of arguments.

Output :

This will return a string from array of elements.

implode – PHP Functions Example 1 :
<?php
$strArr = array('Hi','from','tutorialmines.net','.!');
echo implode(" ",$strArr);
?>

In above example ,We have array of elements array(‘Hi’,’from’,’tutorialmines.net’,’.!’); Now this function will glue the array elements in a string and returns the string. See below is the output of above code.

Hi from tutorialmines.net .!

implode – PHP Functions Example 2 :

If you want to make a string from elements of an array,on the basis of separator for e.g. comma ( , ), star (*), hash(#)  use below example :

<?php
$strExample = array('test string 1', 'test string 2', 'test string 3', 'test string 4');

echo implode(" , ",$strExample);
echo "<br>" . implode(" * ",$strExample);
echo "<br>" . implode(" # ",$strExample);

?>

Output will be like below:

test string 1 , test string 2 , test string 3 , test string 4
test string 1 * test string 2 * test string 3 * test string 4
test string 1 # test string 2 # test string 3 # test string 4
