MySQL8 OCT() Functions – String Functions

This function helps in changing from decimal to octal number. It returns a string representation of the octal value of its argument.


OCT() : Syntax

OCT ( Number );

OCT() : Parameter

Name, Required /Optional, Value Type, Description
Number , Required, String , The input string.
[/table]


OCT() : Output

[table caption=”” width=”100%” colwidth=”20%|80%” colalign=”left|left”]
Returns,
number, returns a octal number.

OCT() : Available from

Version, MySQL 5.7

OCT() Example 1 : Basic usage

Below is an example of it.

mysql> SELECT OCT(18);
+---------+
| OCT(18) |
+---------+
| 22      |
+---------+
1 row in set (0.01 sec)

Below is an example with multiple values:

mysql> SELECT OCT(1), OCT(15), OCT(25), OCT(100);
+--------+---------+---------+----------+
| OCT(1) | OCT(15) | OCT(25) | OCT(100) |
+--------+---------+---------+----------+
| 1      | 17      | 31      | 144      |
+--------+---------+---------+----------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)

OCT() Example 2 : Expressions

Below is an example of using expressions :

mysql> SELECT OCT(1 + 100 ), OCT(15 - 5), OCT(25 * 2 ), OCT(100 / 2);
