chr – PHP String Functions
Syntax :
string chr (ascii);
Description :
chr() function will returns a character from the specified ASCII value. The ASCII value can be specified in
- Decimal : Decimal values are defined by a leading 0x.
- Octal : Octal values are defined by a leading 0 (Zero)
- Hex : hex values are defined by a leading 0x.
Parameter :
string – String to check.
Output :
This will return a character from the specified ASCII value.
chr() – PHP Functions Example 1 :
echo chr(50) . "<br>"; // Decimal value
echo chr(050) . "<br>"; // Octal value
echo chr(0x50) . "<br>"; // Hex value
In above example ,We have passed ascii value in decimal, Octal ( starting from 0) and Hex (starting from 0x) format. We will get the below output from above example.
Now Output will become –

If you want to write “TUTS” in Hex format. add backslash to mulitiple letters, Use below example :

echo chr(0x55) . “<br>”; // Hex value
echo chr(0x54) . “<br>”; // Hex value
echo chr(0x53) . “<br>”; // Hex value
